Delhi, the capital city of India is located in Northern India in the state Haryana. The latitude and longitude are 23.28 degrees north and 77.13 degrees east. Delhi is actually separated into two components, Old Delhi and New Delhi. Old Delhi is split off in the North being a historical destination as well as the home of many slums. New Delhi in the South is more modern and structured than Old Delhi but is full with many slums too. In the link below is the map of Delhi.

Delhi, the capital city of India is the most visited tourist city of the country. It is the attraction of thousands of tourists around the world every year that come to explore the amazing features and landmarks of the historical city. A popular place to explore in Delhi is Delhi's most famous structure, the Red Fort which is located in Netaji Subhash Marg, Chandi Chowk, New Delhi, Delhi, India. This is a popular destination to visit due to its historical meaning and amazing sound and light show. The fort was the residence of the Mughal emperor of India in 1648 to 1857 .
Another amazing landmark is the Jama Masid. Jama Masid is the largest mosque (A Muslim place of worship) in India. It is located in Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, Delhi India. It started building in 1637 and completed in 1650. With a long climb to the top of its southern tower, you will be stunned with a sightseeing view across the rooftops of Delhi. Chandi Chowk is also another popular tourist destination located in the main street of Old Delhi. It is a surprising difference to the formatted streets of New Delhi. Cars, bikes, carts, pedestrians and animals all struggle for lack of space. Beside its crumbling buildings and busy paths it is an exotic location too. Delhi is the center of international politics, trade, culture and literature in India. Being the fastest growing state in the country, Delhi has had an economic growth rate of 9.3 percent in 2013-14. The Delhi government predicts that the growth will increase to 11 percent to 11.5 percent by the end of 2017. It gets most of its income from its real estate markets and tourism. Agriculture used to play a huge part in the industry but has been taking over by services and tourism. Delhi has always been a popular tourist destination due to its location and interesting culture and history. 76.0% of its income comes from services, 15.6% comes from real estate, 5.3% comes from electricity, 2.7% comes from irrigation and 0.4% coming from Manufacturing. As Delhi is located in the richer states, they have a higher Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), which attracts more workers. This is another factor why Delhi has a high economic growth rate. The population density of Delhi is 11,050 people per square kilometre.

Delhi’s culture is steeped in tradition. It includes traditional festivals, arts, paintings, embroidery, jewellery, cuisine and religion.
Being the capital of India, Delhi is home to the magnificent festivals and celebrations. Various important celebrations include, Independence Day, which is held on the 15th of August every year. It is the celebration of the year (1947) India got freedom after the British ruled them for 300 years. Another major festival is, Qutub Festival, which is one of Delhi’s most important festivals. It represents Delhi’s culture and traditions. The festival runs for three days in November-December. This festival is focused on the historical importance of the Qutub Minar. The Qutar Minor is a 73-metre brilliant sandstone tower with remarkable architecture. It was built by Qutub-ud-din-Aiback in the 12th century. The culture involves around traditional art and paintings too, which have been highly important activities since the Mughal period in the early 16th century. Their significant embroidery is famous worldwide with cloths full of beautiful, unique types of embroideries. These are used for creating Indian clothing such as salwar kurtas or saris. Jewellery of Delhi is also known world wide for its intricate craftsmanship. Delhi food cuisine is also a world famous delight. It is known as the ‘land of spices’ because of its variety of spices. There food is also famous for its assortment of flavours. It is said that the correct Indian meal has a perfect balance of 6 flavours with one or two standing out. These flavours include sweet, salty, bitter, sour, astringent and spicy. Religion also plays a huge role in Delhi culture. There are many religions in the culture with the largest religion in Delhi being Hinduism, which is also the third most popular religion in the world. There are 33 million gods and goddess in the religion. Other religions in Delhi are Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism and a tiny proportion of Christianity.
